Barcelona Agree £190m Sponsorship Deal With Japanese Company Rakuten
Barcelona have landed a shirt sponsorship deal worth £47m ($58m) per year with the Japanese online firm Rakuten.
Barcelona’s new sponsorship deal with Japanese company Rakuten is worth £190 million. It is one of the biggest football shirt sponsorships to date, surpassed only by Manchester United and Chevrolet, and could make Barcelona wealthier than Real Madrid, currently the world’s richest club.

The length of the agreement is fours, with an option of a one year extension. Rakuten’s logo will now feature on Barcelona’s shirts from next season.

In addition the huge revenue Barcelona will receive, they are also drawn to Rakuten, who brand themselves as ‘Japan’s largest internet shopping mall’, as they would like to expand the club’s brand in Asia.

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu:

"This agreement puts us at the forefront of sports club sponsorships, which has always been an objective for the current board of directors"
